The Schools Division of Puerto Princesa City joined the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines in honoring the lives of the victims and survivors of the Holocaust during the International Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony at Palawan National School (PNS) Gymnasium, April 25.
Representatives from the City Government of Puerto Princesa, the Department of Education (DepEd) MIMAROPA Region, DepEd External Partnership Service, and PNS junior and senior high school students and teachers graced the event.
The first part of the program started with welcome remarks from the school principal, Jabel Anthony L. Nuñala, and opening remarks from the Regional Education Program Supervisor of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division, John S. Eviota.
Moreover, Ester Buzgan, the Israel Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, emphasized in her video message that the Holocaust should “never again” be repeated.
The program also included showing video clips and footage about the experiences of the Jewish people under Nazi Germany’s dictatorship, in which students got to share their reactions and insights after watching.
Meanwhile, a ribbon-cutting activity was done at the second part of the program to officially open the regional exhibit hosted by PNS featuring the children in the Holocaust, Flashes of Memory, and the Righteous among the Nations.
