PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, 28 September 2024 – In a proud moment for Palawan National School (PNS), Sir Enrile O. Abrigo, Master Teacher II and HUMSS Subject Group Head, was celebrated for his outstanding accomplishments at the Gawad Teodora Alonzo (GTA) 2023. The awards were presented on September 25, 2024 during the Management Committee (MANCOM) meeting of the Schools Division of Puerto Princesa, held at Costa Palawan Resort.
Sir Abrigo’s stellar performance in the Global Teacher Award competition has made waves, earning accolades at the division, regional, and national levels. His story Mameng won third place in the division level, first place in the regional level, and fifth place at the national level. Additionally, his captivating work Ang mga Bayawak sa Bundok Mantalingahan clinched first place in both the division and regional levels and secured third place nationally. These recognitions underscore his mastery in crafting narratives that resonate deeply with Filipino culture and environmental themes.
In recognition of his exceptional body of work, Sir Abrigo was also honored as a GTA Hall of Fame Awardee, having achieved national-level wins with four of his stories over the past two years. His 2022 entries included May Mahabang Pila sa Kagubatan, which placed second, and Kumusta, Ola?, which placed third. In 2023, his story Ang mga Bayawak sa Bundok Mantalingahan garnered third place, while Mameng took fifth place, further cementing his reputation as an award-winning educator and storyteller.
During the MANCOM event, OIC Schools Division Superintendent Laida M. Lagar-Mascareñas, CESE, and OIC Asst. Schools Division Superintendent Rufino B. Foz, both expressed their admiration for Sir Abrigo’s contributions, acknowledging how his achievements have brought honor not only to Palawan National School but also to the entire Division of Puerto Princesa.
In a statement, PNS Principal Sir Jabel lauded Sir Abrigo for his continuous pursuit of excellence, stating, “We are incredibly proud of Sir Enrile Abrigo for his outstanding achievements.
